A student can have the loving teachers, a safe environment, an exciting, interactive lesson, supportive parents, but still refuses to bloom or turn work in. It is always easy to use Nature as a metaphor for human behavior, and Nature makes great memes and Emersonian quotes, but Nature is not irrational. It does not mean that we give up on the un-blooming student; we just need a better understanding of human psychology.
