I had never heard this before. I always loved the Croce song though.

However, over time, the story began to fade. In the modern-day Netherlands, the legend of Beatrijs and the cat is not as widely known outside of the Biesbosch area. But for those who grew up in that region, the tale remains an enduring part of their heritage reminder of how even in the darkest moments, luck, hope, and the kindness of nature can prevail.
