I recall the 60's like they were yesterday, but they were definitely different in the US

The 1960s was a time of social revolution, but in rural Ireland, it was a different story. The stigma of having an illegitimate child born out of wedlock cast a shadow over Bridget and her three young children. After her husband died, she struggled financially to maintain the farm and raise them, without any financial or emotional support. Living in poverty, her children had no luxuries and went to bed starving at night.
