One thing is for certain: The crisis of the legitimacy of governments — worldwide — is not something that is “solvable” overnight. There is no “magic wand” that can be wielded or one particular action that can be taken that will “make” citizens “like” and respect their government and their governmental leaders again. This is true whether we are talking about the United States, the United Kingdom, or anywhere between Australia and Spain or between Canada and India. Governments globally have a very real — and serious — predicament on their hands when the citizens they serve see them as both not being competent and not being ethical! The question is: How do you begin to reverse the trajectory towards mistrust in governments and have citizens believing in their governments once again?
